The vase is made of massive brass and will patin over a period of time. You can easily remove yellow oxidation by placing the vase in warm water with a bit of citric acid and a drop of detergent. Subsequently, you can polish the vase with brass polish to remove oxidation or small stains and get the shiny look back.
